Its that time of the year… that special time when Lovespirals bust out their one and only holiday song! You may remember our contribution to the Projekt holidays series, Excelsis, recorded way back in 2001; a cover of John Denver’s wintry song “Aspenglow.” If not, then you are in luck! We’ve just made this track available as a free download in multiple audio formats over on our new Bandcamp page. Stream “Aspenglow” in full or download it FREE in your choice of high quality mp3, AAC, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, or ALAC.
“Aspenglow” was officially released via CD on the 2001 compilation, Excelsis Vol. 3, and the 2002 Hot Topic compilation, A Dark Noel: The Very Best of Excelsis.
Lovespirals first Future Past single, “Shine” has won the Garageband Reviewer’s Pick Award for Best Female Vocals in the Alternative Pop genre for this week. This is an ongoing contest judged by site users, primarily musicians who are also participating in the contest held by this unique i-Like owned music site. Songs are judged in an anonymous fashion, with the reviewer having no information about the track other than the soundfile itself until after they have rated it and posted their review comments. Kieran Moore of Ireland wrote, “Quite a haunting song. Nice mood with the Rhodes, and the female singer has a sexy voice which works really well when layered. Reminds me of the French band Air. Good sound, well done.” Visit Lovespirals page on Garageband to read all the reviews thus far, as well as to stream or download “Shine” for free. You can also check out more Lovespirals songs, including the multiple-award-winning “Love Survives,” which won Track of the Day and Track of Week twice each, and currently holds #16 Best Female Vocals of All Time in the Electronica Genre.
Matt Rowe penned a very positive review of Lovespirals’ latest release for the Music Tap site. It reads, in part:
I’ll say it now, Lovespirals is an undiscovered diamond, cut to a many-faceted perfection in their new album. Future Past is their masterpiece work to date. With Manzarek-like keyboards, a masterful bluesy guitar, and an angelic voice, the 11 tracks that you’ll find on this magnificent surprise are not to be missed.
He goes on to comment about the performances of Ryan and Anji individually, even encouraging the duo to pursue solo endeavors outside of Lovespirals. You’ll have to read the full review on Music Tap.
Ryan and Anji of Lovespirals talk about their Thanksgiving holiday and the exciting lovespirals.com exclusive pre-release launch of Future Past, as well as their first new single, “Shine.” The band talk about the impact of Twitter and Facebook messages on their sales, as well as the uniqueness of selling music in today’s social media enviornment. Anji also breaks down the various music sites that she posted “Shine” to, explaining each of the site’s unique functions and how you can use them to become a Lovespirals Street Team member (or to promote your own band!). She also lists all the podcasts who have played “Shine” thus far. Feel free to post a comment if you’ve played it, too! The duo close out the show with the song “Shine” in it’s entirety.

The first single from Lovespirals’ new album, Future Past, is the bittersweet downtempo pop number, “Shine.” This song is making the rounds online slowly but surely, and you can help get the word out! Podcasters and broadcasters can pick up the track on Mevio’s Music Alley (formerly known as the Podsafe Music Network). Music bloggers and anyone else interested in sharing “Shine” on their sites or social media accounts with a handy audio widget, can do so via Soundcloud or Virb. Lovespirals’ MySpace music player allows users to add the streaming single to their personal playlists, while the band’s Facebook page lets you stream it from the page’s music player. iLike allows you to both stream and download the track either directly or from within the Facebook iLike app, where you can also dedicate the track to friends, add it to your music playlist, or post it to any profile. Likewise, Garageband offers a full stream and download, plus users can rank and review “Shine” in the ongoing song contest to help Lovespirals win awards and feature placements on the site. TheSixtyOne also also offers full streams of “Shine,” with the option for users to help vote it onto the main page by clicking the “heart” button. ReverbNation allows you to stream and download the song, add it to your own playlist, and embed a Lovespirals audio player widget on your own sites. Most of these sites allow listeners to leave comments or reviews of songs, which Anji and Ryan always enjoy reading. If you use any of these sites or services, Lovespirals would very much appreciate your help in promoting both the new single and album!

Lovespirals bring you up to date with the release of their 4th album, Future Past. They’ve set the official pre-release date for Tuesday, Nov. 17th, but you can hear clips of every song right now on this very episode! Ryan and Anji also detail recent changes to lovespirals.com, including the new logo created by ithinkitsnice, new band photos by Susan Jennings, the Future Past discography page, audio clips, and album lyrics. They also give a big pitch for why you should join their Facebook page at facebook.com/lovespirals, invite you to join their street team with instructions for one simple task, and talk about their first interview for the new album. But the best story of this episode is about how English fan, Andrew Banville was FIRST to order the CD, for the 3rd time!!!
Lovespirals band founder, Ryan Lum, proclaimed that the band’s last album, Long Way From Home, would be the final one to come out on CD. But response to such claims in interviews and the band podcast, Chillin’ with Lovespirals, was consistent amongst fans; they want a physical product, not just a digital one. So the band scrapped their plans to release one or two digital-only EPs per year and returned to their original format, the full-length album. This time around, however, the eco-conscious duo decided to do their homework before going with their usual compact disc manufacturer. The resulting packaging is one that the fans are sure to love, and that the band can feel good about. Future Past will be Lovespirals’ first digipak, printed on 100% recycled stock with 100% recycled plastic trays, printed with vegetable-based inks and coated with water-based biodegradable varnishes. You can hear Ryan and Anji talk about the CD packaging — and hear a clip of the opening song from Future Past — on Chillin’ with Lovespirals #70.
Read more about the packaging from the designer’s blog post on ithinkitsnice.com.
