Lovespirals Contribute To New Book Series
Ryan Lum and Anji Bee of Lovespirals contributed stories to The First Time I Heard book series compiled and edited by Scott Heim, who wrote the novel, Mysterious Skin. Ryan’s story on the first time he ever heard the Cocteau Twins is out now on Amazon and iTunes, while Anji’s story on Kate Bush will be out later this year. Other musical acts covered in the series include David Bowie, The Smiths, and Joy Division/New Order with Abba, My Bloody Valentine, Kraftwerk, R.E.M., The Pixies, and Roxy Music coming soon. Additional contributors include Harold Budd, Annie Barker, Ian Masters, Rebecca Coseboom, and many other musicians and vocalists, as well as several novelists, journalists, and poets. Ecstatic EP
A 30 plus minute set of 4 extended club-length Jazz-Step and Atmopsheric Drum and Bass tunes in the vein of Good Looking Records. Classic breakbeats like the Amen and Funky Drummer propel these song with a frenetic pace, while Ryan Lum’s signature reverb-laden guitar chords and ambient synth washes lend a much more relaxed atmosphere to the proceedings. With the sexy saxophone of guest musician, Doron Orenstein, and the dreamy vocal musings of Anji Bee glossing over the top, Lovespirals have created a magically dreamy, late night, uptown vibe perfect for chillout rooms in the club or the penthouse suite.
All of these tracks have been included on compilations including Chillout in the City, The Chill Lounge: 26 Chilled Euro Tracks, Chillout Lounge Vol. 2, Cool Terrasse, Mondisk: A Celebration of 13 Years, and Music for Active Yoga Vol 1. Lovespirals have also licensed these songs to a number of cable, network, and Internet programs including E!’s Gastineau Girls, VH1’s The Love Lounge and Celebrity Fat Camp, MTV’s Made, Playboy’s Celebrity Centerfolds (the Farrah Fawcett episode – bonus!), UK’s Day Trip Designer, various Current TV programs and more.

Chillin' with Lovespirals #82
Ryan and Anji return after a month’s hiatus to reveal all of the work they’ve secretly been up to in their Chillcuts studios. Its a little known fact that the Chillin’ with Lovespirals podcast turned 5 recently, but the fact that Anji’s podcast, The Chillcast, just turned 5 — due in large part to a new music compilation she just released. 5 Years Of Chillin’ is a 14 track, one hour plus collection of music that represents the overall vibe of Anji’s weekly show. A brand new, unreleased song by Lovespirals is featured, as well as a brand new single by Anji Bee. Listen to the show for complete details on the release, including a lot of backstory about the inspiration, creation, and completion of the album, as well as the various relationships the band have to each of the contributors. The show closes with Lovespirals’ new song, “Try To Forget.”

Lovespirals Release New Song "Try To Forget"
We are quite excited to share some brand new music with you! “Try to Forget ” — the first new song to be released by Lovespirals since their January 2010 album, Future Past — is featured on the brand new 5 Years of Chillin’ compilation. This 1 hour collection of chilled tunes celebrates the 5 year anniversary of The Chillcast With Anji Bee music podcast. In addition to the new Lovespirals track, this compilation also features the debut of Anji Bee’s new song, “Put Some Music On,” produced by Ryan Lum of Lovespirals.
Lovespirals’ pals and Chillcast regulars, MoShang, Chill Factor-5 and 7 Day Visa, also contributed new unreleased tracks to this compilation. Previously released tracks — some hard to find — by Adam Fielding, Mr. Meeble, and The Grooveblaster, Ernesto + Markus Z, Under, Science for Girls, Sunburn in Cyrpus, Steve Kilbey + Martin Kennedy, and Karmacoda (who collaborated with Lovespirals on a modern version of the classic Americana spiritual, “Motherless Child”) round out the compilation. A big special thanks to Robert Rich of Soundscape Productions for mastering the album.

Chillin’ with Lovespirals #81: Remix Winner
Anji and Ryan of Lovespirals have selected the Grand Prize winner and Honorable Mention of the Sony ACIDplanet Remix Contest for “Feel So Good”! We know that 40 some producers have been anxiously awaiting our decision since December 28, while we’ve been sorting through all of their entries. Turns out there were several really solid mixes and plenty of great musical ideas! Once again, we thought we’d make our winner’s announcement with a podcast, so we could share a bunch of our faves with the fans and give the producers our thoughts on their tracks. The remixes are presented in no particular order, aside from the winner and runner-up; the Grand Prize Winner is presented first and the Honorable Mention is presented last. The grand prize winner will receive a copy of ACID Pro, 5 ACID loop libraries plus all 4 Lovespirals albums on CD, and will be featured on an upcoming new remix single for “Feel So Good.” Hopefully several other mixes from this list will be included in that, as well.
