Lovespirals Live Practice Video

In preparation for the big Lovespirals and Karmacoda Harlot Happy Hour show coming up this Friday in San Francisco, Ryan and Anji have spent a lot of time selecting and arranging a half hour set of songs to perform. Over the weekend the duo tried playing the set using both an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar. The band have done shows either way, and they each have their merits. Anji captured some footage from a few of these practice sessions and put it up on the Lovespirals Facebook Group and Official Lovespirals You Tube Account. Figured we should post it here, as well! Lovespirals haven’t performed live since 2006 – and they haven’t played the San Francisco area since 2002 – so if you’re in the area, you really should come check it out!

Lovespirals CD Release Party Concert

To celebrate the release of Lovespirals’ new album, Future Past, San Francisco electronica act, Karmacoda, are hosting a very cool Happy Hour event at Harlot. Featuring a Chillcast DJ set, Lovespirals meet & greet and short acoustic set, plus a full Karmacoda performance, this is one party you won’t want to miss! Ryan and Anji will also be on hand to autograph eco-friendly digipacs of Future Past (and their previous 3 albums, as well.) This will be the first time Lovespirals have performed live in San Fran, and their first public performance since 2006, not counting their late-2007 virtual concert in Second Life. This is a very special night and we hope you’ll be there to share it with us! Be sure to arrive early as this event starts promptly at 7pm and ends at 10pm. You can RSVP on our Facebook Event Page.

Please spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, and your favorite social media sites. Podcasters & DJs can download a 30 sec audio ad for the show from Lovespirals’ Music Alley page or SoundCloud.

Shine is Track of the Day on Garageband

The first single from Future Past, “Shine,” has been selected as Alternative Pop “Track of the Day” on music site, Garageband. The accolade comes as part of the ongoing music contest for this unique site, where songs are judged by fellow musicians on a number of criteria. “Shine” was featured on the site earlier as the “Best Female Vocals” in Alt Pop for the week of December 7, 2009. The word “sexy” seems to be popping up quite a bit in reviews of Anji Bee’s vocals for this track… You can download “Shine” FREE from Lovespirals’ Garageband page. In related news, Future Past was just released on iTunes the 1st of January, 2010. The album is also available in digital and CD format on CDbaby and the band’s own webstore.

Shine Wins Best Female Vox Award

Lovespirals first Future Past single, “Shine” has won the Garageband Reviewer’s Pick Award for Best Female Vocals in the Alternative Pop genre for this week. This is an ongoing contest judged by site users, primarily musicians who are also participating in the contest held by this unique i-Like owned music site. Songs are judged in an anonymous fashion, with the reviewer having no information about the track other than the soundfile itself until after they have rated it and posted their review comments. Kieran Moore of Ireland wrote, “Quite a haunting song. Nice mood with the Rhodes, and the female singer has a sexy voice which works really well when layered. Reminds me of the French band Air. Good sound, well done.” Visit Lovespirals page on Garageband to read all the reviews thus far, as well as to stream or download “Shine” for free. You can also check out more Lovespirals songs, including the multiple-award-winning “Love Survives,” which won Track of the Day and Track of Week twice each, and currently holds #16 Best Female Vocals of All Time in the Electronica Genre.

First Single – "Shine" – Released

The first single from Lovespirals’ new album, Future Past, is the bittersweet downtempo pop number, “Shine.” This song is making the rounds online slowly but surely, and you can help get the word out! Podcasters and broadcasters can pick up the track on Mevio’s Music Alley (formerly known as the Podsafe Music Network). Music bloggers and anyone else interested in sharing “Shine” on their sites or social media accounts with a handy audio widget, can do so via Soundcloud or Virb. Lovespirals’ MySpace music player allows users to add the streaming single to their personal playlists, while the band’s Facebook page lets you stream it from the page’s music player. iLike allows you to both stream and download the track either directly or from within the Facebook iLike app, where you can also dedicate the track to friends, add it to your music playlist, or post it to any profile.  Likewise, Garageband offers a full stream and download, plus users can rank and review “Shine” in the ongoing song contest to help Lovespirals win awards and feature placements on the site. TheSixtyOne also also offers full streams of “Shine,” with the option for users to help vote it onto the main page by clicking the “heart” button. ReverbNation allows you to stream and download the song, add it to your own playlist, and embed a Lovespirals audio player widget on your own sites. Most of these sites allow listeners to leave comments or reviews of songs, which Anji and Ryan always enjoy reading. If you use any of these sites or services, Lovespirals would very much appreciate your help in promoting both the new single and album!

The first single from Lovespirals’ brand new album Future Past just debuted on The Chillcast #190. For those who don’t know, The Chillcast is the weekly chillout music podcast of band vocalist, Anji Bee (so she had a bit of an unfair advantage on premiering this track…) “Shine” is the opening track of the show, but stick around to hear this rest of this 1-hour set featuring new music by Fonogeri, Minus Blue, The Warheads, Jamie Lloyd, Amanda Blank, Groove Junkies, Dirrrty B, Dynamic Stab, and Blu Mar Ten. Have You Heard? (Xtranormal Vid)

Have you seen the Xtranormal site yet? It allows you to select from various characters and backgrounds — including your choice of gender and language — then animate them using various actions and expressions. Type in what you want them to say and how you want them to say it — even choose which camera angle — and the site turns your script into an animated video. It is way too fun! I had heard of it somewhere, but once I saw it in action – via a video by Ryan Coseboom of Stripmall Architecture, I knew I had to try it out. I hope you get a good chuckle out of it and hey, feel free to repost! Without further ado, may we present the comic ad for our upcoming new CD, Future Past, entitled, “Have You Heard?”

“Is Lovespirals that old Goth band?” “No. They are so not Goth.”

Anji Joins Meals for Seals Program

As mention in Chillin’ with Lovespirals #67, here is a little video of Anji Bee talking about about participating in the Meals For Seals sponorship program at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, CA. Join the PMMC on Facebook to get educated and get involved. Right now, record numbers of seals are showing up sick all along the west coast, so they could really use your help!

Lovespirals Own Podsafe Downtempo Chart

Pleased to note that Lovespirals are still doing quite well on the Podsafe Music Network Downtempo chart. At present, the band own the top 3 spots, plus the number 8 spot. Long time fan favorite, “Love Survives,” from the 2005 album, Free & Easy, is the top podcaster pick, followed by the ever-popular Bitstream Dream remix of “Walk Away” (we really do need to release that Walk Away EP one day…),  plus both original mixes of Long Way From Home singles, “Motherless Child” and “This Truth” from 2007.  Quite surprised its the not the remixes of those singles,  honestly! Band vocalist, Anji Bee, currently holds the #7 position in Downtempo and  #2 on the Trip Hop chart, both for collaborations with the now-defunct Canadian-based project, Bitstream Dream.

On a side note, gotta give some love to Macedonia of Radio BSOTS for his kind comment:

Somewhere in the podosphere, someone is keeping an all-time Podsafe Music chart topper list. I would like to think that Lovespirals is somewhere within the Top 30, if not the Top Ten. Personal faves include “Love Survives” and “Walk Away (Bitstream Dream Remix)”.

Please check out Lovespirals’ podsafe music for use on your podcast or Internet radio station.
