Ryan and Anji Lum’s brand new single for August is available now on all streaming platforms, digital music stores, and via YouTube Music.
From Bandcamp:
Emerging from the heavy, interior themes of “Haunted,” “Broken,” and “Dissociate,” “Desirable” shifts its gaze outward. Sultry, jazz-tinged trip-hop downbeat carries a weary detachment—a last call barfly watching the room with a tired eye, attuned to the quiet gravity of desire as it pulls everyone closer.
“Desirable” unfolds as an enigmatic study in magnetism and distance, where vintage warmth meets modern depth. The arrangement moves with a slow, deliberate confidence, letting space and texture do the work of tension and release.
Anji’s breathy, seductive vocals, recorded in a single take, offer a storyteller’s intimacy—cool, measured, and just out of reach—underscored by a restrained high-harmony flourish. Paired with Ryan Lum’s evocative guitar and the duo’s hypnotic production, the track settles into a velvet-lined atmosphere that feels both intimate and faintly untouchable.
The Sirene podcast said of the single:
With “Desirable,” Love Spirals Downwards move into a more outward-facing dimension without losing the qualities that belong to their music: the warmth of a night and that almost hypnotic pull that is difficult to resist.
This time, though, the sensuality of a gaze and the desire running through the song are added to it all.
And so, chapter after chapter, Anji and Ryan continue to build their story, once again leaving us suspended between what we see and what their music enables us to imagine.
