Check out a new interview with Anji Bee by DJ Noctura of Charting the Higher Octave. They go deep into her musical history, including her stint as a fanzine creator in the 80s and 90s, her time as a college radio DJ, how she met Ryan, plus music collaborations new and old (Restless Mosaic and Bitstream Dream), podcasting, and –of course– what’s new with Lovespirals.

The Call (VIP Mix)
Can’t afford to take the fall
Your timing is no good
I’m not free today
But if I could, you know I would
Go outside to play
You’re calling out to me
(Calling out to me)
I see it in your eyes
(See it in your eyes)
Full of curiosity
(Curiosity)
Such a sweet surprise
But I’m chasing you away
Well what else can I do
‘Cause if you stay another day
I might fall in love with you
Fall in love with you
You’re calling out to me
(Calling out to me)
I see it in your eyes
(See it in your eyes)
Full of curiosity
(Curiosity)
Such a sweet surprise
So I’m chasing you away
What else can I do
‘Cause if you stay another day
I might fall in love with you
Fall in love with you
I can’t answer your call
Can’t afford to take the fall
I can’t answer your call
Can’t afford to take the fall

“The Call (VIP Mix)” Digital Single Out Now
Ryan & Anji Lum revisit their 2022 single, “The Call,” with an even moodier and more atmospheric 2025 reboot. The new VIP Mix amplifies the song’s shoegaze and dream pop essence with a bigger, bolder guitar sound and more immersive ethereal vocal harmonies. The hook-laden guitar lead and spacey synths evoke The Cure, while the track’s melancholic yet driving energy harks back to Ryan’s early 90s work, as well as the duo’s 2018 album, ‘Life Goes On.’ Anji’s emotive vocals shift effortlessly between bold confidence and dreamy sincerity, adding depth to the song’s hypnotic pull. A nostalgic yet refreshed take, this version of “The Call” is a hauntingly beautiful throwback with a modern twist.
Out now on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple, Amazon, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
Special thanks to Susan Jennings for her classic cover image.

Used To Be Single on Apple
After many delays, our new song, “Used To Be,” is finally available on Apple Music. We have been experiencing a number of issues working with our new digital music distributor related to the band name, which has been exacerbated by recent policy changes at Apple. It’s looking more and more like we will be officially returning to the original band name to avoid further problems. In any case, we hope you enjoy the new song and look forward to more music from us in the new year!

Used To Be
No one
Life returned to how it used to be
Days filled with nothing and nobody
Put my dreams upon the shelf
Return to my lonely self
No one to rely upon but me
No one
Sit in silence waiting for a sign
In a prison of my own design
Close the curtains and the blind
Leave the whole damned world behind
No one to rely upon but me
No one
No one
(No one, no one)
No one
(No one, no one)
No one
(No one, no one)
No one
(No one, no one)
When the shadows start to fall
I retreat behind my wall
Build it higher every day
Just to keep the world at bay
No one to rely upon but me
No one
As the day fades into night
Hope is just a distant light
Will I ever find the key
That will finally set me free
No one to rely upon but me
No one
No one
No one
(No one, no one)
No one
(No one, no one)
No one
(No one, no one)
But me, no one
But me, no one
No one
Used to be
Life returned to how it used to be
